Lyssna: Woman reports police over 7 month wait for passport renewal

A woman in Jönköping has sent a written complaint to the Justice Ombudsman after the next available time she was given by the police for a passport renewal is on 12th October, seven months away, which she described as “totally unacceptable”.

It’s one of 20 such complaints sent to the Justice Ombudsman.

The police have told media that the delays, which are affecting those in southern Sweden in particular, are a result of the coronavirus pandemic when many passports expired.
