In the last 5 year, Sweden’s regions have been spending more and more on nurses brought in by staffing companies.

  • Last year, Sweden’s regions spent more than SEK 6 billion on hiring temporary healthcare staff, up 12 percent compared to 2020, reports Swedish Radio News.

  • Nearly 40 percent of that sum went to nurses hired in from staffing agencies as more are interested in switching to temp positions.

  • Magnus Lundqvist, who runs a staffing company, says nurses now understand their value in the marketplace in a different way than before.
