Lyssna: Refugee children to be taught Ukrainian curriculum at museum

  • A new activity centre for Ukrainian children of primary school age is to open inside the Nordic Museum in Stockholm later this month with the aim of providing a safe social and learning environment for children who have fled the war in Ukraine.

  • Denys Gordiyenko arrived in Sweden just over two weeks ago after fleeing Kyiv with his family. He’s the project manager for the centre where Ukrainian teachers who have also escaped the war will teach their home curriculum to the children aged 6-10 years.

  • “The lessons will be as close to the official education programme for primary school children in Ukraine and we will mix it with some extra-curriculum activities where they can play,” he tells Radio Sweden.
