Norway is now the only one to have the record for most gold medals at a winter Olympics, after the gold harvest in Beijing on Friday reached 15. It was secured by biathlete Johannes Thingnes Bø, who picked up gold in the men’s joint start. Norway was with Canada and Germany holds the previous record of 14 gold medals. With just over two and a half days left of the Games in China’s capital, the Norwegians have been by far the largest medal participant. Germany has won 10 gold medals as the second best nation. Norway has in addition to the 15 medals of the highest carat picked up 8 of silver and 11 of bronze, bringing the medal total to 34. Russia, which is standing in Beijing as Russia’s Olympic Committee, has picked up 27.
