The leader of the Liberal Party, Nyamko Sabuni, has resigned with just five months to go until the next General Election.

Sabuni, whose party has been struggling in the opinion polls, told a news conference that she didn’t think she was the right person to take the party into the election, adding that she didn’t want discussions about her as a person to stand in the way of discussions about the problems that Sweden is facing.

The Liberal’s deputy party leader Johan Pehrson will now lead the party into the general election.
