Lyssna: Hopes that online registrations may take pressure off Migration Agency staff

  • More than 14,000 Ukrainian refugees had by Friday sought temporary protection in Sweden, in accordance with an EU directive giving them the right to refuge across the Union.

  • At some Migration Agency offices, refugees have been told to come back later because the caseworkers haven’t managed to keep up with the workload.

  • A new digital service which is being launched today may help take some of the pressure off of agency staff, but the primary hope is that it will make it easier for Ukrainians, who will not need to physically queue to register with the agency.
