Lyssna: New school law to curb classroom disruption

  • The government is proposing changes to the law to strengthen the right of school staff to intervene against rowdy pupils. It also wants to ban the private use of mobile phones in lessons.

  • After undergoing a legal review, the schools minister, Lina Axelsson Kihlblom, today presented proposed changes to the Education Act, which she told a news conference will ‘bring order to every classroom’.

  • “Pupils should not be busy with their mobile phones in class, they should concentrate on what the teacher is saying,” Axelsson Kihlblom said.
