Migrations minister Anders Ygeman
The government today presented details of its proposal of how Ukrainian refugees who are here under the EU’s temporary protection directive can be distributed more evenly throughout the country than compared to what happened with those arriving from Syria in 2015.
At a news conference, Migration Minister Anders Ygeman said that the Swedish Migration Agency will retain the main responsibility for deciding where in the country the refugees will live.
The authority must be given the powers to assign Ukrainian refugees to a municipality that then must provide housing. In turn, the municipality will receive compensation.
