Some app companies that set workers up with gigs are not considered legally to be employers.

  • Some so-called “app companies” that hook workers with gigs through digital platforms are not considered employers, and therefore aren’t responsible for the health and safety of workers who, for example, bring food for home delivery.

  • That’s the conclusion of the Swedish Work Enviroment Authority in a report requested by the government.

  • In its report, the authority states that today’s legislation is not enough to guarantee a good work environment for everyone who works in these types of companies.
